Overview

The Riverdale Soccer Club was formed in 1996 to promote youth soccer in the Riverdale area. The Club was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in June 1997, and is managed by a nine-person Board of Directors. The board consists of a president, vice-president/secretary, treasurer, registrar, recreational programs director, travel programs director, coaches' representative, field maintainer, and field setup coordinator. The board is elected annually by the Club's membership, which consists of players, their parents or guardians, coaches and directors.

The Riverdale Soccer Club currently runs the following programs:

The Travel Team Program consists of teams that compete in regional soccer leagues such as the Westchester Youth Soccer League. Participation on a travel team is selective, and potential players are required to try out for a position on a travel team. Travel teams generally play in both Fall and Spring.

The Club's Recreational Programs consist of a local league with separate Boys and Girls divisions, and a co-ed instructional program for six and seven-year olds. Unlike the travel team program, the recreational programs are open to all players who meet the age eligibility requirements. The programs are:

The Riverdale Soccer League Girls Division is for girls only ages 8 through 14 and plays in Seton Park in the Fall and in Van Cortlandt Park in the Spring.

The Riverdale Soccer League Boys Division is for boys (and girls upon request) ages 8 through 14 and plays in Seton Park in the Fall only.

The Peewee Instructional Program is for boys and girls ages 6 and 7, and takes place in Seton Park in the Fall and in Van Cortlandt Park in the Spring.

The Club also ran a Winter Indoor Program at a local school gymnasium in its early years. However, we have not had a winter indoor program since 2002 and there are currently no plans to resume this program.
