Travel Teams
The Club's first program was its sponsorship of "travel teams" that competed in the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL). The WYSL is an inter-community league for players ages 8 through 18, and is sanctioned by the United States Youth Soccer Association. The Club's teams play against teams from other communities, mostly from Southern Westchester towns such as Yonkers, New Rochelle, Scarsdale, etc. About half of the Club's games are played at our "home" field in Van Cortlandt Park, the other half are "away" games played at the hosts' fields. Travel teams play in both the Fall and Spring seasons, and games are played on Sundays.
The number of teams and age groups that participate in the travel team program varies from season to season, and depends upon interest. Over the past few seasons, the Club has fielded up to six boys teams and four girls teams. Participation on a travel team is selective, and potential players are required to try out for a position on a travel team.
The Club's most successful travel team has been the
Scorpions
, which won its League and State Championships in 2001.
Ten travel teams are playing in the Spring 2007 season:
Manchester United (Boys Under 9)
Lightning (Boys Under 10)
Kelly's Heroes (Boys Under 11)
Matrix (Boys Under 12)
Juniors (Boys Under 14)
